2nd Book - Dear Mr. Henshaw
Dear Mr. Henshaw is a book set up like a diary. It's about a boy named Leigh and he doesn't have a very good life. First, his parents are divorced. He lives with his mom who works a lot so Leigh spends a lot of time at home. His dad is a truck driver so Leigh never gets to see his dad. Leigh and his mom don't have a lot of money so Leigh spends a lot of his time writing to his favorite author Mr. Henshaw. Leigh has a lonely life. It's not until he tries to catch a person who is stealing his lunches that he discovers he's worth something!! Leigh gets a friend and things start looking up. Leigh uses his diary to share his feelings and learns that he can be happy.

My first book!! Jelly Belly
This was an amazing book! This is always a fun book to read at the beginning of the school year because student laugh and identify with struggles at school and home. This is a book about a 5th grade boy named Nathaniel (Ned) who is struggling with his weight. He lives with his parents, brother (Jamie), sister (Libby), and Grandma. He struggles with a bully at school and his commitment to lose weight. Ned is shipped off to summer camp and cheats on his diet the entire time he's there. During the final banquet at camp, Doctor Skinny tells him, "See you again next summer" and Ned can't believe his ears. He returns home determined to lose weight!! He starts exercising and has a serious conversation with Grandma. In the end, Ned loses his weight and the family celebrates with a vacation to Disney World. Way to go Ned!! This is a great book for all to read.
